Q. How do I find videos and DVDs?

All videos and DVDs are searchable in the Discovery Search page or library homepage by title, actor/director, and subject in 1 of 2 ways:

1) From the Discovery Search page or library homepage, begin your search by typing the title, actor/director, or subject of the video or DVD in the search box, then click the SEARCH button/icon, or the Enter/Return button. On the results page, switch the search category from "Everything" to "Library Catalog". Then select the "Video/Film" link located under the search box. Finally, you may "Tweak your results" by changing the Sort by option from "Relevance" to: "Date-newest", "Date-oldest", "Title", or by "Author". The newest DVDs will be at the top of the list if you sort by "Date-newest". Physical DVDs will show a location and call number. Streaming versions will show a "Available online" link.

Or:

2) From the Discovery Search Advanced Search screen: Switch the Search for category from "Everything" to "Library Catalog". Under Search filters, where it reads "Enter a search term" type the title, actor/director, or subject of the video or DVD. Change the search filters "Any field" to "Title", "Author/Creator", or "Subject", etc. where applicable. Then select "Video/Film" for Material type. 

If you want just a particular genre, you can add that to the second search filters box: AND Any field contains ___ (such as: comedy, romance) otherwise leave the search field blank. 

Then click the SEARCH button.

Finally, you may "Tweak your results" by changing the Sort by option from "Relevance" to: "Date-newest", "Date-oldest", "Title", or by "Author". The newest DVDs will be at the top of the list if you sort by "Date-newest". Physical DVDs will show a location and call number. Streaming versions will show a "Available online" link.

You can also view a complete list of DVDs here: a) Sort by: Date-newest, or b) Sort by: Title. University Libraries has access to thousands of streaming media titles, which can be found by searching Discovery Search.

Videos and DVDs check out for 7 days. 

You can browse the DVDs, which are located in the Learning Commons on the 2nd floor of Newman Library, next to the main restrooms.
