Books and other materials you request through the catalog are kept on hold at the location you requested for 7 days. An email is sent as soon as the item is checked in to that hold location, and that starts the 7 day countdown.

After the 7 days have expired, the hold is automatically removed and the item is returned to its normal location, or the next hold in the queue starts.
