Everyone who is a current employee of the university or currently enrolled student should have access to University Libraries subscribed eBooks and the Library Resources Off Campus, simply by starting on the library's website. You can check your current affiliation through OneCampus.

Non-students, Virginia Tech Alumni, and Community Card users have access to eBooks ONLY while on-site and excluding a few ebook providers.

Note that we have very few fiction ebooks (novels). Some ebook providers do not offer downloads. Some ebook providers allow only one person to download an ebook for a set duration, often a week.

Whenever possible, we purchase ebooks from providers that offer PDF downloads (often one PDF per chapter). But some providers use Digital Rights Management (DRM) to restrict how their ebooks work. You'll need to create a profile on the sites of those providers and also download  Adobe Digital Editions.

See our ebooks page for details on how ebooks work from the various providers and platforms we subscribe to.

If you want to put one of our ebooks on an ereader like a Kindle, Nook, or tablet device, the process will vary based on the format of the ebook. Most devices support PDFs.
