How do I specify that I’m something other than an author, such as a conductor or director, for a creative work, such as a performance or production?

When adding any type of scholarly or creative work, Elements has only a few options to designate your contribution to the work: author, editor, translator, and contributor. If you are a performer, conductor, director, etc., you may not qualify as the ‘creator’ or ‘contributor’ of that work, but you should use the ‘Author of’ option, even though the language doesn’t necessarily align with your contributions or creative input. The citation that imports to your FAR will not label you as an ‘author.’ In addition, the title of the work, the date, and its ‘authors’ will display on your Virginia Tech Experts profile (if you’ve made it public); the ‘authors’ display next to a person icon:
