Open Access refers to the removal of price and permissions barriers to peer-reviewed research. Open access can be achieved by:

  • Publishing in an open access journal (usually for a fee)
  • Archiving scholarly and creative works in a repository, such as:
    • Preprints
    • Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) of a published journal article
    • Conference papers
    • Technical reports
    • Presentation slides
    • Data sets
