The Virginia Tech pre-1997 theses and dissertations are being scanned into the Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) database without the express permission of the authors. For this reason they are automatically restricted to on-campus viewing and downloading and are designated as BTD (Bound Theses and Dissertations). The print copy is no longer available for lending.
The decision to restrict or not is made exclusively by the submitting author.
Contact Gail McMillan, director of the Digital Library & Archives, who will contact the author to see if he or she is willing to change the restricted status so that it is freely accessible to all. Only then will the restriction be lifted.
