If you are unaffiliated with the university, use your local library's interlibrary loan service to request these materials.
If you are affiliated with Virginia Tech, use ILLiad, the university's Interlibrary Loan service, to request these items.
If your mailing address is in the New River Valley counties of Montgomery, Giles, and Pulaski, you will need to pick up borrowed materials from the Circulation Desk any time Newman Library is open.
Extended-campus users will have materials mailed directly to them.
Regardless of your physical location on- or off-campus, you will be notified via email when your materials have been received.
Getting the requested material can take from a few days to a few weeks, depending upon the verification of the request, availability of the material or proximity of the lending institution. The loan period granted depends on the lending institution, but is often granted for at least 2 weeks. That period may be extended, sometimes, for one renewal. Some lending institutions issue restrictions on the use of the material.
Another option to obtain materials not owned locally by the Virginia Tech Libraries is to fill out a Book Suggestion Form to suggest a title for purchase.
