Discovery Search indexes a lot of material, so simple or vague searches will give very many results. There are some quick ways you can limit those results to more scholarly resources.

Use the facet in the Limit To section at the top of the facets column labeled Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals or under Source Types labeled Academic Journals.

Peer reviewed journals have articles that go through a formal peer-review process, though content like letters to the editor (which will still appear in your results when selecting this facet) do not.

Academic journals include peer-reviewed journals and non-peer-reviewed publications like National Geographic, Discover, and Scientific American.
