Print journals are arranged by Library of Congress call number in the stacks/shelves along side the books. In the some of the branch libraries journals could also be located in the 'current periodicals' area. Stack locations vary according to LC call number. Please use the online catalog to find the Journal's LC call number. Newman Library no longer has a 'current periodicals' location. Most current periodicals are located online.

Older journals are often located in the Library Service Center. Requests to bring back these materials may be made through the online catalog. The items held in the Library Service Center will be delivered to the branch of your choice. You will see a Place Hold link at the top of the item's full record screen. To find the full record screen, use the search bar at the top of the screen to search the journal title. You may need to limit your search results by using the Refine your search box to the left. And limit your search under Item types to Periodical.

Once you have the full record screen, click on the Place Hold button, and you will be prompted to put in your patron information (For current Virginia Tech Students, Faculty, & Staff: please sign in with your PID, password, and 2nd factor authentication; for Virginia Tech Library Community Cardholders: sign in with your library card number and password). Choose your preferred pick up location (branch), then select the items for volumes you want. (There may be only one choice.) You will receive notification when your item has arrived at the branch location you chose.
